How do I purchase a gift membership in The WELL?
Answers: How do I purchase a gift membership in The WELL? First, please verify that your current billing information including the credit or check-card is up to date and accurate, and the expiration date updated. Check it out (securely, with your password), then close the window to return here.
What will you send out to acknowledge my gift? We'll give your guest the good news by email, as soon as we charge your account. This is a swift, simple way to send a great gift. Can I be anonymous and make it a real surprise? Yes, you will be unknown to the recipient if if you choose to enter an unknown "nickname" in the "from" line on the form, or if you give us instructions when you call or email. What does this cost? The minimum gift amount is $10.00 and the maximum you can charge on the form is $150.00. If you have another amount in mind, please telephone us at 415/645-9300 to arrange a gift. I have friends already paying for memberhips on The WELL. Can I offer them a gift? Yes. We can apply a gift to an ongoing account or to a new account. You may also decide to tie a friend or family member's account to yours, paying their bill until you say otherwise. For that service, contact Helpdesk. What will the recipient of my gift have to do to get set up? If it is a new account, your friend or family member will simply register for a new account, or call The WELL at 415/645-9300 for assistance in registration. They do have to tell us they have a gift. We then apply your gift purchase to their account. Your guest will continue as a WELL member and be billed after your gift is exhausted unless they ask us to cancel the account at that time. Alternatively, let us know if you wish to charge their ongoing usage to your bill after the gift is used up. What if they have questions? We'll give your guest the helpdesk email address and the 415/645-9300 phone number. Any "fine print"? Your guest is subject to the terms of the WELL Member Agreement and registration policy. The gift is good for WELL services only, and has no cash value. There are no refunds on unused or partially used accounts. However, balances may be transferred to another membership at any time with consent of the original recipient. Complete accounts may accrue extra storage charges, if so, the gift amount will be applied to the total bill, not just to the monthly fees, and may be used up in a shorter time.
