The cooking conference has been holding oyster fests since November 1994,
when a half dozen of us gathered on Hearts Desire Beach at Tomales Bay and
worked our way through 200 oysters. Oyster Fest IX was held at Miwok
Meadows in China Camp State Park in Marin County, California. Twenty-five
oyster eaters -- as well a half dozen more who came to enjoy the sunshine
and the party, if not the bivalves -- were in attendance.
