Connecting to the WELLMUSE

The WELLmuse will be open to ring in the New Year, wherever and whenever you're ready. If you Internet service provider has tinyfugue available, just give the command

tf well.com 4201

and follow the instructions that scroll onto your screen to connect.

You can connect as a guest, although it's more fun if you have a character and know some basic commands. Even so, the 'musers are a helpful bunch and will glad to help you enjoy your visit.

There is also a more detailed quickstart instructions file which lists some of the basic commands you can use to do various things in the MUSE. You may want to print this out and have it handy. Please note that the instructions for connecting are written for people already logged in on The WELL; if you do not have a WELL account, use the TinyFugue command as directed above. If your internet provider does not have tinyfugue installed, you can ask them to install it (It's available at http://tf.tcp.com/~hawkeye/tf/ ), or you can use telnet, but telnet does not thread the lines of ascii correctly when there are many people connected, so it can get a bit confusing.

NEW THIS YEAR: you don't have to be on The WELL to have a registered character in the WELLmuse. However, you won't get a building quota if you aren't on The WELL. You can hang your hat in the 'muse Bed & Breakfast, though ...

To register your character, send email to rtswimm@well.com and include your character's name and a password in your message. You can change your password at any time, and should do so after you connect the first time "in character."
