Terry -- I'm quite sure there are ways for Rincewind to "grow" that
don't require him to stop running! Maybe he can surprise everyone by
picking a _direction_ in which to run that, while it does get him out
of danger and all that, is not the most obvious or direct way for him
to get out of the way but *is* the way to save the world (again).

And afterwards he can be uncomfortable in the face of indisputable
evidence that he knew exactly what he was doing (heh).

All...

I can tell you that in The Last Hero, coming soon, he does show signs
of realising that running only gets him somewhere *worse*:-)

Terry, if this is too slow for you, Vicious Kitty from Neil's site's
message board wants you to come over and be the entertainment at the
party she threw for me...
but I'll warn you, it involves nudity, magic tricks, and the Koala
Piss Hat.

Hey, where is everybody?

(Wind howls). Terry?

JaNell?

Man, that must be some party.

I really just stopped by to say thank you to Terry, for a lot of fun
reading, and some thought-provoking reading as well. And especially
for being an absolute peach when I met him last spring in Chicago. But
nobody can compete with a party that features the Koala Piss Hat.....

wanders disconsolately off, wondering if she can find this legendary
party.........

From the most recent issue of _Ansible_:

_Lucy Sussex_ reports from Down Under on `a small marsupial called the
Dibbler, rare, but saved from extinction. It's about the size of a large
mouse with a bushy tail. One wonders if Terry Pratchett should contribute
to their survival fund, given CMOT Dibbler in Discworld. However, one
point of difference -- Dibblers belong to the antechinus family, which
means they are famously sexually rapacious. The fact that at the end of
the breeding season no males are left alive caused zoologists no end of
puzzlement, until it was discovered that they'd gone without sleep and
food in their sexual frenzy. Leaving a population of pregnant
 females....'
