Yes, I made that same delightful discovery when I rented the first disc
of the Groucho set about a week ago. The Lord does a bit of the Marc
Antony "Hipsters, flipsters and finger-poppin' daddies" oration for
Groucho, and also some nice Satchmo-style scatting. Another show on the
same disc features Ernie Kovacs doing a guest shot.

        From punmaster's music wire:

After picking up the new You Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx 3-DVD release,
I was completely surprised to find the great hipster Lord Buckley as a
contestant on one of the shows. Groucho was taken with him, and he had a
chance to show off his suave wildness (toned down a bit) . Lord was of
course in vaudeville and later a hip night club comedian. The same episode
featured actor Gary Cooper's 83 year old mother.
These 18 episodes span most of the years of the show and were never in
syndication.
If you love Groucho, this set is a must.

Congrats, Oliver, on the Holman course at Bard. I went to Bard in the
early '70s -- one year as a student, two as a -- um -- resident.
Majored in LSD and orgies and excelled in both. In my spare time
studied with the stupendous jazz trombonist Roswell Rudd (musicology
and improvisation) and fab poet Robert Kelly (lit).
     It was heaven on earth.
