Robert A. Dunn writes:

Subject: Thank you!

For responding to my e-mail. It is quite reassuring that not only Grace
is well, but ALL of you are doing well. I am pleased with your many
successes, and I know everyone must move on to a "better" world, and
"galaxy"! The achievements you have made, are to be commended, and
without The Jefferson Starship~(a.k.a.)~The Jefferson Airplane, the
bands and/or "rock" groups would have come as far as they have.
Everyone's hats are "off" to you, and MUCH continued success in your
future endeavors. Please give my regards to all, and if by chance you
should EVER have any contact with Grace, I wish her my VERY best, not
only as a fan, but as a human being! She is well respected, and I am
certainly HONORED to even know of her. Thanking you, I am...Robert A.

        Hi Ari,

No disagreements from me. I think if the Airplane had just called it
quits and then Paul and Grace formed a new band without the word
Jefferson in the name, the Airplane would be much more highly regarded
today. Ditto for that thing called Starship. If they'd called it the
Mickey Thomas Band or something, no one would make the connection to JA
and the earlier band's reputation would be in good shape.

I just finished reading the book last night. One thing that occurs to me
is that one reason why the Airplane are disregarded these days is that
long, long period as the Starship when putting out their music (whatever
that was) sounds less like the goal than "putting out music that will sell
to the album-buying demographic."

It all does tend to obscure the memory of an "After Bathing at Baxter's".

Augie Blume handled radio promotion for Grunt records in the early
'70s while his wife Nancy did sales and marketing. I was unable to
locate them while researching the book.

Thanks again to everyone who joined in on the discussion.

Jeff

You didn't want the records, John? Who doesn't want records?

Oh. *Those* presents....

Wow, this is officially over already? Jeff, the book is terrific, and I
hope to see you here and elsewhere about the Well for a good while to come.
