That, and I'm afraid I left the tuna under the broiler a tad too long, so it got a bit dry. It needed a sauce, and the lime ponzu sounds fabulous.
virtual community or butter? (bumbaugh) Wed 10 Dec 03 12:55
I just want to say that I made some rice with that carrot juice trick the other night and it was totally scrumptious. Yummmm.
Gonna go see some Turks about the dates tomorrow (gower) Mon 15 Dec 03 13:06
Just checking in after a long absence--thanks Bruce! I find the Odwalla carrot juice to be almost as good as fresh-squeezed at home, without the pretty extreme hassle (at least my Champion is a hassle).
David Adam Edelstein (davadam) Mon 15 Dec 03 13:45
Yeah, the odwalla is all I've used, since I don't have a juicer. It's mighty tasty. Very carroty. :-)
Angie Coiro (coiro) Mon 15 Dec 03 13:47
Someone gave me a cute little juicer as a housewarming gift. I really appreciated the thought - but eventually not the juicer. Too much hassle, too much mess, little tiny screens and strainers clogged with pith. (No, I do not have a lisp.) Odwalla has great juices, and despite my very thrifty bent - it's worth the money to let them do all the prep.

And now that Angie has piped in, let me just say that I'm EXTREMELY excited to be a guest on her show, Forum, on KQED on January 2, from 11 am. Please tune in!

88.5 FM in San Francisco, streaming live at www.kqed.org. Gower, I hope to hell you're showing up at for 10am. That's when I'm expecting you!

Oh yaaay, I'll catch that! What's the theme and who are other guests? The Braun Citromatic I bought Joe in May is probably the most successful appliance in our household. We've made orange juice (3 oranges per person) just about every morning we've been been home since May, and no hassle, no mess. Superb design and cheap.

Oops, uh, yeah, 10 am!

FYI, (gower) book spotting in Amsterdam, at the American Book Center yesterday. 20.
Angie Coiro (coiro) Tue 16 Dec 03 12:17
frako, it's a one-on-one hour with Eric. We'll talk about his experiences with the two cultures of food, including attitudes, serving traditions, breaking tradition, etc. His book intro alone gives enough fodder for a good hour.

Not taking calls then, I take it?
Angie Coiro (coiro) Tue 16 Dec 03 16:46
oh, yeah! Any time we're live, we take calls. Forgive me - "one on one" is jargon for an interview with only one guest. It's not an indicator that we won't include listener voices.

Thank you--I am so hungry now. It's been snowing for around 10 hours now and I'm not likely to see fish until late spring... Your show was great... I love uni ;-)
Angie Coiro (coiro) Fri 2 Jan 04 11:21
It was great fun! Re-airs tonight at ten pm. Also archived (sometime this afternoon) at kqed.org.
mother of my eyelid (frako) Fri 2 Jan 04 14:53
It was great! Both of you are in total sync conversation-wise.

Had a lovely time with the lovely (coiro), who is, if one can imagine such a thing, even better in person. Looks like it's up on the kqed website already! http://www.kqed.org/programs/program-landing-local.jsp?progID=RD19
