Happy holy daze, everybody!

I've got a show in the South Bay tomorrow night, sharing the stage with my
good friends Jeff Pehrson (The Fall Risk) and Mario DeSio (The Secret
Identities) at Don Quixote's in Felton (see below for details). We did this
last week at the Ashkenaz and had a ball (I opened the show solo and sat in
with both bands).

**

Just released: My solo electric show of 3/26/11 at the Stage Stop in
Rollinsville CO (opening for Moonalice) is now available from Festivalink in
MP3, FLAC, or CD. You can audition it and (I hope) buy it at
http://flink.livedownloads.com/show.asp?show=6977

This show is also available from livedownloads.com, which offers CD on demand
and also individual tracks. I recommend "Quarter to Five (For Tina Loney)"
and the first released version of "Therapy Blues" (co-written with Joe Rut).

As always, I'm in the market for house concert opportunities. If you see an
open spot on my schedule in your general vicinity, let's try to make
something happen! And remember: word of mouth is a gigantic part of
musicians' promotion and publicity these days, so if you like my music,
please spread the word about my gigs and recordings.

Good day, friends!

Tonight is the public debut of the Sycamore Slough String Band! This is an
acoustic quartet doing Grateful Dead-ish music, with Bay Area bluegrass
luminary David Thom on mandolin, "Fiddle Dave" Muhlethaler, and Roger Sideman
on bass.

We posted a clip of "New Speedway Boogie" from our first rehearsal in the
Dead Covers Project - please visit <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoZfxawvKeQ>
and click on LIKE!

Our new web site is (blessedly short URL) <http://s3b.us> , and you can find us
on Facebook at <http://www.facebook.com/SycamoreSlough>.

On Monday we will finish mixing a CD's worth of material, which we are
planning to release soon via <http://festivalink.net (where I recently
released a live show recorded 3/26/11, and "Desert Wind, Rollin' River"
- a duo record with my dear friend Eric Rawlins).

Sycamore Slough String Band is an acoustic quartet founded on a mutual love
of Grateful Dead music. Instigator David Gans had the brilliant idea of
holding the band's first rehearsals in a recording studio in order to capture
the magic that everyone knew would transpire. The song list has already
jumped the fence into other works, but the repertoire will remain Dead-
centric for the most part. The Dead's "concerted sense of quest" informs
SSSB's musical interactions, and a powerful vocal ensemble rides high atop
those grooves. These tracks are a little rough around the edges, as first
rehearsals tend to be, but the ground has been broken on what is already
proving to be a fertile and fruitful musical collaboration.

Hello, friends! This month is all about Sycamore Slough String Band in the
Bay Area, but my schedule for spring and summer is starting to fill up nicely
with festivals. I'll add more house concerts and club gigs in and around the
big events; stay tuned.

For those who haven't heard us yet, Sycamore Slough String Band is an
acoustic quartet focusing on the music of the Grateful Dead, with other fine
songs popping up occasionally as well. With me are mandolinist/guitarist
David Thom, "Fiddle Dave" Muhlethaler, and bassist Roger Sideman. Everybody
sings! We held our first rehearsals at Megasonic Studio in Oakland in
January, confident that magic would be made, and we did indeed wind up with
releasable music. "First Rehearsals" is available in FLAC, MP3, and CD on
demand from festivalink.net -
http://flink.livedownloads.com/show.asp?show=7293 and in audiophile (96/24)
from HDTracks -
https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=catalogdetail&valbum_code=HD0639444121

Here are two videos from "First Rehearsals":
Jackaroe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY8tyO-_7Ik
New Speedway Boogie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoZfxawvKeQ

We hope to be able to tour with this thing eventually!

Readers of this list who are outside the Bay Area can check out SSSB on
Thursday, May 26, 7pm PDT - we're doing a live webcast from TRI Studios.
http://www.tristudios.com

I'm also hawking "Desert Wind, Rollin' River," a studio recording of
Americana type songs (including several originals) with my dear friend Eric
Rawlins. We've been singing together, mostly at private gatherings, for more
than 20 years. The recording was done in my living room by the great Stephen
Barncard, who recorded "American Beauty" and David Crosby's "If I COuld Only
Remember My Name...") It's available in FLAC, MP3, and CD on demand from
Festivalink - http://flink.livedownloads.com/show.asp?show=7136
And in audiophile (96/24) from HDTracks:
