Mind if I pop in? Reading this topic made me remember my all-time favorite book shop - The Canterbury Cafe in Madison, Wisconsin. There was always a jazz trio, the world's best soup, and overly-long games of Scrabble. not sure, I'm living in Northern California now .. I just got word from a friend that it was gone ... I wasn't there to watch.

I used to live less than a block away, and at 10 or 10:30 at night, getting settled in and realizing I didn't have anything to read, I could pull on a sweater and walk to the corner and browse for a book. Ahhh ... what a life. [Read entire topic]

Philadelphia has a couple of good ones, though my favorites are Robbins Bookstore, on 13th Street, which has one of the most comprehensive poetry collections I've come across (and weekly, at least, readings), and, for the mystical explorer in me, Garland of Letters, on South Street, which is one of the very best in that genre, anywhere.
