Can't believe I omitted the E. Bay store that's been INCREDIBLY nice
to the book -- Mrs. Dalloway's in Berkeley. I plead forgetfulness due
to writing.

Aha, not having seen those posts I went into Books Inc on Fourth Street
Thursday and bought a copy. Gift was a success, of course.

They had one more copy.

Charlie has a piece in The New Yorker this week. "Seder, the Sundance
Movie":

I finished _The Enthusiast_ a couple weeks ago and was compelled to go to
ebay and order an old copy of New West. Sadly, no Charlie Haas but there
is an Ed Ward piece in there. I feel in love with the WELL instantly
because it reminded me so much of the smart literate humor in New West. I
literally thought oh, this is where my people went!

Sad I missed this interview.

A perennial! I [heart] Chris Strachwitz. Such an interesting guy. And
a great label, too. Got Xerox?

Chris Strachwitz gave a "fireside chat" talk at the Hillside Club a few
months ago -- he was great.

I finally got a copy of this book and read it. LOVED it. I recommend
it to anybody who has ever been passionate about something only a
subset of people care about. That's nearly everybody I know.

I guess I'm an enthusiast of The Enthusiast now.

I don't believe CHarlie is aroudn here much, but I exchanged emails with him
