Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company will host a special evening with San Francisco Chronicle columnists Jon Carroll, Leah Garchik, and C.W. Nevius. Not quite a tour, sort of like an event...

Starting January 30, author David Shenk will be joining us in Inkwell.vue to delve into the difficult and distressing subject of Alzheimer's, and to discuss his best-selling book, "The Forgetting -- Alzheimer's: Portrait of an Epidemic." If you want a preview of what we'll be talking about with David, check this out:

On Wednesday evening, January 21, PBS will air "The Forgetting" -- a documentary on Alzheimer's inspired by author David's book of the same name.

Of the documentary, David says, "It's a very powerful film that puts most of its focus on the experience of families dealing with Alzheimer's. There's also a taste of the history and a little bit of science woven in."

It'll show at 10 p.m. Pacific Time on KQED, San Francisco, and will air again the following Sunday, January 25, at noon.

The show airs on the east coast at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
