Cool, Spesh is one of my longtime best buddies in the SF music scene.
And our friend Gil <tow> is a "resident" DJ at their Looq weekly at 111 Minna.

The only reason I know anything about this movie is that a couple of
pieces of my son's (Raleigh Freeman) art and, supposedly his bedroom,
are in it. Groove opened yesterday in St. Louis and I asked three
friends who have known Raleigh since he was a baby to go with me to see
it. I had hoped to lead a chorus of *gasp* "That's Raleigh's room!"
but if it was there, I missed it. However, we did recognize two of his
drawings as they flashed by at the beginning and we waited until the
last credits rolled and there it was! My baby's name on the big
screen!

At any rate, we all loved the movie. (And our ages range from 53 to
67) And we were all delighted we had the connection because otherwise
we wouldn't have thought to go see it. We for dinner and all the
people around us could have been cast members and we loved them all
too.

My introduction to rave was after Raleigh returned from England in
1995--he'd been in Canterbury for a semester and they went up to London
to raves every chance they got. Until he left home, my house
reverberated with jungle music and all his art reflected his rave
experience.

The movie fit the impressions I'd gotten from him.

Anyhow, Groove has got the little old lady vote. Maybe Ebert reflects
a guy thing.

OK, this is from a press release:

The U.S. distribution of GROOVE is moving ahead at full steam with
openings in 13 cities last weekend and 12 more this Friday. Director
Greg Harrison will be on hand at the Main Art Theater in Royal Oak,
Michigan, and I will be at Minneapolis' Uptown Theater on opening
night
Friday the 14th. We encourage those of you in the vicinity to come
down, hang out, see the film and ask questions. For a complete list
of
cities where GROOVE is opening:

http://www.groovethemovie.com/thefilm_screenings.html

You can read and listen to recent interview additions to
groovethemovie.com; including a feature with streaming GROOVE DJ sets
from the online radio site Thump-Radio.com. You'll find a link to it,
as well as other interviews at:

http://www.groovethemovie.com/interviews.html

We also wanted to thank all of you who have shown your support for the
GROOVE soundtrack. The CD had a strong debut a few weeks ago at
number 11 on Soundscan's dance music chart. Find out more about the
soundtrack at:

http://www.groovethemovie.com/musicsoundtrack.html

There are also GROOVE DJ Tour parties happening this weekend in
Detroit, MI, Boulder, CO, and next week in Vancouver, B.C. For

Well it looked like that's where they ended up, it's the site of the former
Sutro Baths at Land's End. Wasn't it?

Is it a good thing to organize a film as if it were an Internet
