It's been great fun--and I plan to stick around. One of the reasons I had for doing this interview was I figured it would help me get back into the Well. (I gave it up cold turkey when I began working on this series of books. Not enough time in the day.) Anyway, I'll check in regularly--for insightful questions, random comments, or just plain old chat. I'll be around--on Books, for sure; on sf; and I'm not sure where else. Maybe the Gardening conference, when I find it. One of the non-writing projects I have planned for the immediate post-novel period is: I want to build a potting bench. That's a table in the garden for repotting plants and such. After messing around with words for so long, it's great to mess around with real stuff: boards and nails and circular saws and drills. I have a great affection and a healthy respect for power tools.

What's next? I plan to spend at least 3 months reading books rather than writing them. (I'm open for suggestions for additions to my reading list.) I'd like to finish a few short stories.
