I'm <evan>. I've been here since 1994. My original id was <uncaug>,
which means "unca ug". There's a cute story to go with it involving a
two-year old left alone with me while her mother and my wife went out
shopping. Unfortunately, too many people thought it described me
entirely too well. When some other Evan left the Well, I snagged the
id for myself.
You can find me in <politics.>, <media.>, <news.>, <north.> and
<photography.>, among other places. I am co-host of <activism.ind.>,
which seemed like a good idea at the time. :-^
Originally from Washington, D.C., I've lived in the San Francisco Bay
Area since 1975, and in San Anslemo (in Marin county, bwahahahahaha)
since 1983.
unca ug? I always pronounced it "uncog."
You and most other people. T'was a tad obscure.
I never knew a Stoney Tangawizi, but I do know a Susan Tanigawa.
Oh well. Carry on.
I'm Jax. I invented the Well. Since then, I have made a living as a
paid escort for Oscar-winning Best Actresses. I also have a wide
assortment of super powers.

Methinks <jax> meant 'austin powers' not 'super powers'.
Okay, I made some of that up.
The first sentence?
Well, all of it actually.

Not the punctuation.
I'm Bruce and I'm a philosopher. I lurk in <ethics.> and <phi.> but am more
visible in <words.> <palm.> <cfp.> and <eff.>. I live in St. Louis (since
1994) and have been OTW since 1996. I teach at Webster University both here
in St. Louis and online for students from many time zones.
And I blog: http://blogs.salon.com/0001004/

I blog, therefore I am insignificant.

>I never knew a Stoney Tangawizi
If you ever go to Africa, you will probably meet Stoney Tangawizi. It
comes in a can or bottle. It's ginger ale. Big seller in Africa. A
Coca-Cola product, but the buggars won't sell it in the US.
Tangawizi means "ginger" in Swahili (and in most Bantu languages).
I never knew!
hey there. i'm tiffany/magalen/magtif, and while i don't recall seeing
anything with the undeniably cool name of "Stoney Tangawizi" in my life, i
was lucky enough to spend a little time in Africa working with the Joko
Project and Youssou N'Dour a couple years ago.
uh, i joined The Well in 1992 and proceeded to geek out mightily in the
lamented Mondo 2000 conference. soon i was subverting all manner of
paradigms with the Fringe Ware krewe, and <jonl> hooked me up with an
interview with <matisse> and all of this led to me, a totally technically
clueless person, eventually working in Well support.
i've hosted several conferences, currently band.pri (accessible to working
musicians; please email me and cc it to <rik> if you wanna get in) and
formerly Plumage, from its inception in 1995 'til last year. and someother
ones. these days i can often be found in FemX, Writers, BurningMan.Ind, and
the Northwest conf. oh and Non-Profits. < g non >!
the stuff i "do" and that i'm into includes writing, editing, independent
media/music/arts, portland oregon, performance art, music, etc.
my web page at http://www.magdalen.com and my weblog at
http://www.magdalen.com/blog should make this all quite clear.
hi, Welloids and non-Welloids alike!
Youssou N'Dour
how cool!!
And all this time I thought Stoney Tangawizi was a ballplayer I had never
heard of.
You remember him -- the first Japanese sidewinder in space.
