<chuckling>
I wish I still had my "I am Salman Rushdie" pin.
From frozen topic 1:
> last call for the big purge - check out the list of retired topics,
> and let chuck and/or me know if you want any of them to stay alive.
Is it the list of the four topics in post 1.11 (topics 14, 15, 19, and 21)?
Those, and a whole pile more of them, are retired but not dead. In
Engaged, we just click "Retired" at the top of the topic list to see
them; I'm afraid I don't know what one does in pico.
In pico one has to know to enter
b ret
to find the retired topics. The topics are still here in either
interface. The current result is

Greetings. I co-host two of the major food groups <chocolate.ind> and
<wine.ind> conferences.
(BTW - That mermaid has great hips.)
Hey, welcome, rosebud.
My two favourite foodgroups! Welcome.
This actually belongs in topic 1, not topic 2, but I no longer
have the ability to thaw topic 1. I am disappointed to report
that, due to lots of personal challenges that I am facing in real
life, I find that I no longer have the time to give pre.vue the
attention that it deserves.
But the good news is that we have a great new co-host to take my
place, Mike Knell, or <mpk>, to share the duties with <coiro>.
I was delighted to hear that Mike will be taking over. I will be
happy to share with him the secret tricks that we use to keep a
.vue conference functioning, and I definitely plan to keep
stopping by here, meaning pre.vue, to hang with my friends.
Please join me in welcoming Mike to pre.vue!

Hi, Mike!
Good luck, Chuck!
Thank you, Chuck.
Congrats, Mike!
Chuck, thank you for all you've done to get pre.vue up and running. Your
time and energy has been very much appreciated, and I wish you the best of
everything in successfully dealing with those real-life challenges.
And welcome, Mike, to the wacky world of hosting on The WELL!
Thanks, folks. The utterly excellent (chuck) will be a very hard act to
follow indeed (and I hope he sticks around here to give me wise advice
when necessary), but I'm looking forward to working with Angie to help
keep pre.vue rolling!
Now that I'm not a host, I can start playing around with
pseudonyms. I'll start with this old one from my submarine
stories.
Ah yes, good point.

You can't use a pseud when you're a featured host? That's ugly.
Of course you can.

Well, then maybe I did not understand:
> Now that I'm not a host, I can start playing around with
> pseudonyms
There's no rule that hosts can't use pseuds, jmcarlin. Dunno why Chuck
chose to go pseudless as a host (I hope you didn't think you HAD to,
Chuck!).
Not a rule per se - Chuck and I just sort of arrived at that for
ourselves, as we're hangin' our hostal butts our here in public, and
it's nice if guests have a clue who's running the zoo.
mpk can do whatever he likes with his own hostal butt, of course.
Chuck sweetie, thank you for all your wonderful help getting this
point started. But you know me - always happy to move on to another
guy!

Yes, it was just a .vue host choice that Angie and I made.
Meanwhile, this pseud is also from my submarine days. It means
something. It really does. I might not mean what you first
assume, but that's the fun of it!
Well, I think it's a logical choice for a .vue, and if it also means
that Chuck can show off his full range of pseuds to the whole world,
then that has to be a good thing.

Yes, I had gotten the impression long ago, on <inkwell.vue.>, that
hosts weren't supposed to use pseuds. Must be a .vue thang.
<chuck>, that's OK, I didn't get your last pseud, either!

I guess I'm too used to work where we become ever more bureacratic in a
stealth manner. They don't say there is a new form or a new procedures,
they just ding us for not using it or following the unwritten procedures
that were discussed in a meeting we did not attend.

Many thanks to Chuck, who's helped me several times with techy stuff
here, and has always been a delight.
And congratulations to Mike. <pre.vue> is lucky to get you.
