Okay, after one block of five days running a steady 5k on each I took a day
off before starting another block of five days - mostly 5k-and-a-bit with
one slightly longer 8k run and the first hints of starting to put some speed
back into a couple of sessions it looks like the recovery's going well so
far. Today's and yesterday's runs were both at what is at least for me flat-
out race pace, and both were about 5.3km in 23:22 and 23:30 respectively.

While these speeds are not exactly stellar for anything other than fun-
running, I'm pretty happy with them considering that, er, hey, I've only
been running for five months. What the past couple of weeks have shown me is
that even after all the cruddy injury recovery and poor-quality running of
the last couple of months I can still run and still improve - it just needs
a bit more commitment and consistency as far as training is concerned. After
this, it's time to start going longer again and adding a bit more structured
speedwork and a few hills and see what happens in preparation for the
Shakespeare Half-Marathon in April and (you read it here first, folks) the
Dublin Marathon at the end of October.

Yes, I finally gave in and entered a marathon. Should be fun. Well, "fun".

My run-on-sentenceitis seems to have made the first sentence of the above
virtually incoherent. My apologies. In summary - "I've been doing a lot of
short runs".
