yeah. The Dead was a mediocre band that you had to be stoned to listen to.
Otherwise, there was nothing special about them. Even the band symbol
indicated that - your brain had to be slashed to think them good.

Just an average bar band that specialized in off-key cover tunes....

collective trolling.

Uh, and sad-assed crowds.

Did Ella sing in not-knowing-the-words-English or the original
not-knowing-the-words-German?

It was in English. I don't remember it exactly, something like this:

 And the shark, dear,
 Somethingbouta knife dear
 And that's why
 It's Mack the Knife
 And Ella
 And her fellas,
 They're making a wreck
 Of Mack the Knife.

The crowd loved it.

never have so many had so much fun with a thrash suggestion...

however, outsiders might get the wrong impression from this about the
Well

The WELL, where everyone has a gun (or knows someone who does).

You outsiders can have my WELL when you pry it from my cold, dead
fingers.

You mean they might think we don't take our thrases very, VERY seriously
indeed?

As for me, I think George Bush is just what America needs. God arranged
for him to be President for a purpose.

Have I gone too far this time?

I'm reminded of the Star Wars series, where my theory is that the Force
may have been weakening for the Jedi because they were trying to suppress
the Dark Side and use only the Light Side, while the Force may need both
to keep its strength up. So Anakin (sp?) restores balance by going to the
Dark Side and giving it some exercise.

So maybe God put W in office to exercise the Dark Side to bring balance to
whatever passes for the Force in our reality.

Something like the Taoist alternation between light and dark, yes, but
more like the U.S., deeply blessed with wealth, peace, and power, got
lazy, careless, and deeply stupid as a result, and elected a leader
that accurately reflected its character failings back at it.

Damn it, that is so sad. Because it feels so true.

This is not very thrash-like so far. If we're really going to do a full
thrash, someone has to call someone a weak-willed idiot who can't read a
sentence all the way through.

Maybe have a script that randomly mangles posts in this topic as they are
being read, so that the words someone is responding to are not the words
that were originally posted, and also not the words subsequent readers of
the thrash will see?

responding to an assertion that no onehas made.

Oh, wait, we've already got several of those.

Getting into a thrash is like tripping over someone who has fallen,
and then tripping up other people, and then getting in each other's way
as you try to get up, and then beginning to wrestle and claw and
gouge. It will happen to me some time in the next few weeks, but I'm
damned if I will do it till I have to.
