Yes, no official press yet. I doubt any reviewers have seen it!

It looks like there will be a screening in SF on the night before the
election. Stand by for details!

Here’s fun news: we will have a screening at SOMAsala, a cool place
in San Francisco, on November 1 – the night before elections. Details
are being worked out, but if you’re in SF, definitely plan to come by!

SOMAsala is a relatively new space. They say:

“We welcome non-profit organizations, musicians, poets, filmmakers,
and all others who are contributing to the cultural mix in the Bay Area
to use this space to display their talents, to enrich the community,
and to help broadcast a vision of a greater collective good. Past
events have included lectures, concerts, film screenings, non-profit
workshops, yoga classes, and meetings.”

SOMAsala is at 465 Tenth Street #102 (between Harrison and Bryant,
across from Costco), San Francisco, CA, 94103. There might be a small
charge (under $5) to cover soda and snacks.

More details later!

Okay, here's the official announcement of the screening (below).

On a somewhat related note, I saw RED DIAPER BABY yesterday. This is
a one-person show similar to THE ACCIDENTAL ACTIVIST, and it's
terrific. The movie is in limited release from The Sundance Channel.
I sorta know the producer, Brian Benson. If you have any feelings
about communism, NYC, marginal Jewishness, and/or growing up clueless
about sex, you'll have fun at RED DIAPER BABY!

The film is now listed at IMDB. If you haven't used IMDB, go to

and type in the title. The listing is sparse -- I still have to
populate much of it -- but there it is. A listing. (Break out the
noisemakers...)

Inexplicably, the film is listed as the fifth (V) under the name THE
ACCIDENTAL ACTIVIST. And if you follow the link on my name, you will
discover that I was the Production Manager on a 1994 TV series called
"Sky Trackers." Which I was not. I don't even remember a TV series by
that name.

(V) means it's a video release, not that it's the fifth movie with that
title. Or at least that the IMDB thinks it's a video.

Oh, wait. I just figured out that the (V) means Video, as in "The
film is currently available only on video."

Heh. I am slow children at play.

By way of update, we're submitting to film festivals at the rate of
about one each week. These days, with the entry fees somewhere
between
$45-75 per festival, when you add up the other resources and time, it
feels like an endless drain...

How have the reviews been, Kevin?

Reviews, you say? Do you mean reviews by people who have been paid to
review movies? No reviews as yet. At this point, since the only way
for people to know about the movie is if they know about the movie, I'm
not expecting any reviews just yet.

That said, I have had it on my to-do list to send the film + press
packet out to reviewers I know as well as those I don't. But I have no
idea if that will work. Reviewers tend to have a long, long cue of
movies they have to see each week -- major releases, specialty releases
and the like -- so that the chances of getting a review for a film
that has only just come out on DVD in a Ma-and-Pa way, well...

If it gets into a film festival, that's another story! Given the long
lead time for film fest submissions, I don't expect to hear yea-or-nay
from any of the fests for quite some time. Hurry up and wait, hurry
up and wait...

In other news, we just heard that a sort of ongoing film series
inBloomington, IN, wants to show the flick in a theater there. The
organization is called ReelDemocracy.org. Cool!
