On their latest album, Canticles of Ecstasy, they give voice to Abbess Hildegard von Bingen, intoning her mystic hymns and sequences. Sequentia founders Barbara Thornton and Benjamin Bagby talk about their chant mission. Tuesday, July 4, 1995 FEATURE - AMERICAN LANDSCAPES 1995 While everyone else celebrates the stars and stripes, we'll pay homage to the landscapes of America on July 4th with music that calls forth from the deserts of the southwest to the skyscrapers of New York. From the desert cry of Native American flutes to the waterways that run like veins through the countryside, Echoes goes on a virtual journey across the terrain of America. After the parades, hotdogs and fireworks, join Echoes for an evening of evocative American Landscapes. Wednesday, July 5, 1995 FEATURE: Laurie Anderson: Life in the Puppet Motel We enter the cyberspace lair of Laurie Anderson, explore Laurie Anderson's most recent observations of techno culture and check-in to her new CD-ROM, "The Puppet Motel." The future is now and Laurie Anderson is our guide. Thursday, July 6, 1995 FEATURE: Nawang Khechog: Tibetan Winds. Nawang Khechog is a former Tibetan Buddhist monk who fled the mountains of Tibet and ended up in the mountains of Colorado. He played Tibetan flutes and horns on Kitaro's latest CD and concert tour, and on his own new recording "Karuna." We visit Nawang Khechog in Colorado and talk about flutes, horns and the Australian digeridoo. Friday, July 7, 1995 FEATURE-Tim Clement & Mychael Danna: North of Niagara. Tim Clement is a synthesist known for his trans-cultural fusions on CDs like "Waterstation". Mychael Danna is a classically-trained pianist who also has composed soundtracks for planetarium shows. Their recordings together combine environmental samples, lush electronic textures, and romantic melodies. On their latest CD, "North of Niagara," they create ambient chamber music that they refer to as "emotional documents." **************************************************** ID# 95-J07-00131 Monday, July 3, 1995 (Echoes Program H-18) First Half Hour David Michael Feathers Winter Reveries (Purnima) Tony Gerber The Badlands Blue Western Sky (Lektronic Soundscapes) Mychael Danna & Crawford Lake North of Niagara Tim Clement (Hearts of Space) FEATURE: Sequentia - Chants of Ecstasy Sequentia O Vis Aeternitatis Canticles of Ecstasy (Harmonia Mundi) Second Half Hour Eddie Jobson The Dark Room Piano One (Private) The Colour of Memory Rain Parade The Old Man and The Sea (Mesa) David Arkenstone The Temple of Vaal Quest of the Dream Warrior (Narada) Ancint Future Mezgoof Asian Fusion (Narada) Oystein Sevag Song From the Planet Global House (Windham Hill) 777 Batukau System 7.3: Fire + Water (Astralwerks) Third Half Hour Arcane Chinese Canon Arcane (Real World) Ron Korb Man Jiang Hong Flute Traveller (Oasis) Ralf Illenberger Falling Water Precious Waters (Narada) Anuna Sanctus Anuna (Celtic Heartbeat) David Torn What Was Once..
