Now featuring...A conversation with Lowell Feld and Nate WilcoxWhen we all were just wee sprouts, presidential nominations were decided in smoke-filled back rooms, and campaigns were covered on the nightly television news and the morning and evening newspaper. Today, both the party process and the campaign coverage are more small-D democratic. Now, bloggers and online activists have a role in shaping the debate and public perceptions of the candidates. This new citizen engagement was without parallel just a few short years ago, and is still not well understood. Lowell Feld and Nate Wilcox applied their experience in the traditional and online campaign arenas to write Netroots Rising: How a Citizen Army of Bloggers and Online Activists is Changing American Politics. In it, they tell the stories of citizens building power up from the bottom in the age of the Internet, and help us understand what it means for the rest of us -- including those on the top. Come on in the Inkwell and join the uprising. Hosted by: David Adam Edelstein (davadam), Bruce Umbaugh (bumbaugh), Lisa Harris (lrph) |
