Brenda Webster is a freelance writer, critic, and translator and is president of PEN West. Most recently she has published a translation of Edith Bruck's Holocaust memoir/novel Letter to My Mother.

In February 2006, she published a novel called The Beheading Game, about a gay New York theatre director's staging of "Gawain and the Green Knight" and how it intersects with his passionate love for a closeted younger man.

Brenda has also written a memoir about what it was like to grow up in an intellectual and artistic Jewish family in post-World War II New York, as well as two other novels, literary criticisms of Yeats and Blake, and co-edited the journal of her mother, abstract expressionist painter Ethel Schwabacher.
