If you've never been to the Fairfax contradance, this is the time to try it out, and hear some of the most amazing music on the planet! Peter and Mary Alice Amidon, dance and concert musicians from Brattleboro, Vermont, share the stage with their two young sons, Sam, 15, and Stefan, 12, and are here briefly in the Bay Area as part of their 1996-97 tour. The sons are also part of a trio called "Popcorn Behavior," and have recorded an album of the same name, which has had rave reviews.

"Jaw dropping virtuosity." --New England Folk Festival Thursday Night Dance Series

"These guys are incredible musicians that we've been proud to share the stage with whenever possible. Their playing is skillful and full of energy, taste and a great sense of musical fun! We won't even talk about their ages..." --Molly Mason & Jay Ungar

Peter and Mary Alice, as Vermont Council on the Arts Touring Artists and VCA Artists-in-Education, have performed their songs and stories concerts throughout New England. Sam and Stefan have been performing with their parents at music and dance festivals for the last seven years. Sam started playing violin at the age of three and continues to study classical violin; Stefan started playing the dumbeck, a North African hand drum, three years ago. Their music includes both traditional and contemporary New England contra dance tunes. Amidon Family concerts always include the four Amidons singing in three- and four-part unaccompanied harmony. The Amidons have released five cassette albums of songs for children and adults, as well as the book-cassette sets of Jump Jim Joe and Chimes of Dunkirk, music and dances for children and communities.

Sadly, this will be the only dance appearance they will be making in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is an evening of dance and music you won't want to miss!
