The first Friday English country dance at MT in downtown Palo Alto, featuring Bob Fraley calling with music by the Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Ann Fraley, Stan & Susan Kramer)

The Palo Alto contradance, at PA, of course, with Erik Black calling to the by now over-described music of The Guppies (Jim Oakden, Kathrine Gardner and Craig Johnson)
In San Francisco, the English countrydance takes place at BET starting at 7:30. Bob Fraley teaches and leads dances, to the music by Allen Dodson, Ruth Anne Fraley and Kimberly McKittrick.

The second Wednesday Berkeley dance at NGC. Series host David Newitt leads the dance, to the splendid music of Kathrine Gardner, David Brown and Charlie Hancock.

Sunday, February 16 through Monday, February 17
Come celebrate what made this country great--staying up all night and dancing--at the Annual Dawn Dance this Presidents' Day weekend. It takes place at CPDES (Portuguese) Hall in Santa Cruz, starting at 8pm and running until 7am, with a midnight potluck (bring a dish to share!) and featuring bunches of your favorite local bands and callers. Admission is $15 ($12 for BACDS, NBCDS, and other CDS-type members). Featured callers: Jamie Wylde, Susan Murphy, Eric Black, Kirston Koths, Erik Hoffman and Charlie Fenton. The stalwart English countrydance is taking place in downtown Palo Alto at MT, of course... despite the fact that it was left off our printed calendar. Bob Fraley will be teaching with the wonderful music of special guest pianist Peter Spicer, Stanley Kramer and friends.
Saturday, February 22
It's fourth Saturday, so there are BACDS dances...The 4th Saturday experienced English country dance at NGC has series coordinator Alisa Dodson leading the dances, with Avis Minger, Susan and Stanley Kramer, and Craig Johnson providing the wonderful music.
.. and of course the Palo Alto contra at PA, with Eric Black calling and music by Chuck Aronson, Jim Oakden, & a piano player yet to be named.
In the North Bay, the Fairfax contradance takes place at FCC, with Jerry Allen calling, and music by Gus Garalick and Carlo Calabi.
Sunday, February 23
The 6th anniversary of the East Bay Square and Contradance! Featuring the legendary Cavalcade of Callers and music by Hell Broke Loose in Berkeley (a community band; call Kathrine Gardner at 415/726-3495 to join in the fun). There'll be a potluck dinner at 5:30 (bring a dish to share and an extra buck to cover (dining) hall rental), and then the dance at 7:00. All at ECV in El Cerrito, of course.

Friday, February 28
If dancing all night long at the Dawn Dance mid-month wasn't enough, you can contradance two night in a row at month's end at SF. Come to the first installment of the "Cosmic Calendar Confluence"--challenging dances called by Kirston Koths, along with challenging music by The Contrabandits (Chris Knepper, Kathrine Gardner, Charlie Hancock, and Kit Nelson).
