The Berkeley contra at NGC features series-meister Erik Hoffman calling, with music by an open band led by Chris Knepper, Shira and Charlie Hancock.
The San José 1st Wednesday English dance at SJS, featuring Cynthia Stenger and music by Greenwich Mean Time (Kay Thorne, Stanley Kramer and friends).

English country dance in downtown Palo Alto at MT, featuring Bob Fraley calling with music by the Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Stan Kramer, Ruth Ann Fraley and friends)
Saturday, March 8
The Palo Alto contradance, at PA, with caller Kirston Koths and the Crackerjacks (Chris Lewis, Sylvia Herrold, Chuck Aronson, and Paul Kotapish).
In San Francisco, the English country dance takes place at BET starting at 7:30. David Newitt teaches all you need to know, using the music of Bangers and Mash (David Strong, Susan and Stanley Kramer, and Craig Johnson).
Sunday, March 9
2nd Sunday East Bay Square & Contradance at ECV at 7:00. 7-8pm is a special "Newcomers' Session"; all are welcome, and anyone coming to that session gets in free for the remainder of the dance. Jim Saxe teaches, with music by Ray Bierl, Stefan Curl, and, a newcomer newly-arrived from the Southlands, W.B. Reid (welcome!).
Wednesday, March 12
The second Wednesday Berkeley dance at NGC. Anise Feldman and Lise Dyckman together lead the dance, to the wonderful music of Allen Dodson, Chuck Ward and friends.
Friday, March 14
First of all, the 14th marks the beginning of BACDS' Spring Dance weekend at Monte Toyon, running through Sunday afternoon and featuring the calling of Tony Saletan, Bridget Edwards, and Brad Foster with music by The Glasnotes (Cathie Whitesides, Kevin Carr, and Craig Johnson), The L7s (Bruce Molsky, Beverly Smith and Rafe Stefanini), Chuck Ward and Kathrine Gardner. The camp is full right now, but there's not much of a waiting list. For more information, call Fred Perner at 415/856-3038 (web page up soon).
Closer to home, the East Bay Friday contra will take place at FIN, with caller Kirston Koths, and music by the Paul Kotapish, Chris Knepper and Rebecca King.

The 3rd Saturday SF contra features special guest caller Leda Shapiro from Los Angeles, along with music by Ray Bierl, Rebecca King and Steve Shapiro.
Wednesday, March 19
The East Bay contra at NGC, with famed Boston-area caller Tony Saletan and Open Band lead by Charlie Hancock, Chris Knepper and Kathrine Gardner.
The third Wednesday English dance in San José at SJS with Jody McGeen leading dances to the wonderful music of Greenwich Mean Time (Stan Kramer & Kay Thorne).
Friday, March 21
At the Palo Alto English dance at MT, Bob Fraley will be teaching with the music of the Nonesuch Country Dance Players (Ruth Anne Fraley, Stanley Kramer and friends).
Saturday, March 22
The Palo Alto contra at PA features Tony Saletan with music by Québecquasi (Caroline Cirimele, Laurie Riven, Daniel Steinberg, Barbara Mendelson, Kevin Carr, and John Hamstra).
The 4th Saturday experienced English country dance at NGC features Jody McGeen teaching, with great music by David Mostardi, Laurie Edelman and David Strong.
In the North Bay, the Fairfax contradance takes place at FCC, with Stuart Moody calling, and music by special guests the Amidon Family, a renowned family band from Vermont.
Sunday, March 23
A special Turning Couples Workshop at ECV taught by Tony Saletan with music by Charlie Hancock and Kathrine Gardner. The workshop starts at 4pm ($5) followed by a 6pm potluck.
Then, at 7pm is the regular East Bay square and contradance, featuring Tony Saletan, and music by an open band led by Charlie Hancock and Lee Anne Welch.
Wednesday, March 26
The fourth Wednesday English dance in Berkeley at NGC. David Newitt leads the dances; music by Kathrine Gardner, Charlie Hancock and Anise Feldman.
Friday, March 28
The Fourth Friday contra at SF has series programmer Charlie Fenton calling with habit-forming music by those Ladies' Chain Smokers (Patti Walters, Rebecca King and Deirdre Lynds).

End the month with a bang, not a bleat! The fifth Saturday Palo Alto contra at PA features caller Eric Black and music by Sidesaddle (Beth McNamara, Jerry Ashford, Lee Anne Welch, Kim Elking and Dave Ristrom).
