Seasonal Total
(to June 8th, 2000):
74.25 Inches

Just for comparison, you can look at a table of rainfall totals for the 1998/1999 season here.

Highlights of the Season - 1999 - 2000

Some early light rain came in August, along with a cooler than normal summer. Only two hot spells, each lasting less than two days, marked the entire summer. Average temperatures were in the low 80's with low's in the 50's. A spectacular (and rare) lightning and hail storm arrived on September 8th, and lasted from 3:00 PM until just after 5:00 AM (14 hours!!), leaving us sleepless and with .25" of rain (and hail).

The first real significant rainfall of the season occurred on October 27, giving us just under an inch overnight. This was followed by a significant storm on Nov. 7-8, which brought over 2 inches of rain in 12 hours. While November was not as wet as previous years, temperatures are acting like a normal winter, with nighttime's in the 30's, and highs only in the upper 40's or low 50's (f).

January 1, 2000 came in cold and damp, with drizzle and temperatures only in the upper 30's, followed by upper 20's on January 2nd. On January 23rd, a major storm arrived, bringing over 9 inches of rain in 24 hours. A series of storms brought heavy rainfall and cool temperatures in mid-February, with nearly 16 inches in three days. Early March was cold and damp, and light snow (with no accumulation), along with sleet and hail fell on March 5th and 7th. Dry weather came with April, with warm temperatures. Mid-April brought unsettled conditions, and a few heavy showers. Late April was dry and warming, but early May brought some showers and cool temperatures. May 14th seemed more like winter, with a high of 45 degrees and .7" of rain. Spring/Summer finally arrived on May 18, and temperatures soared into the 100's on May 20th, moderating by the evening of the 23rd with light sprinkles and highs in the 70's and 80's. Temperatures dropped into the 40's, followed by rain on the 7th and 8th of June.

Season total (to June 8th, 2000): 74.25 Inches
