We drove north from Brasilia across the great dry highlands, and turned east at Barreiras towards Salvador (Bahia). This lonely 1300 Km road had few towns, and widely-separated fueling stations catering to long-distance truckers. We became very fond of the fixed-price and pay-by-weight truck-driver's buffet restaurants (charrascurias).
