this page honors William Herschel (1738-1822)

William Herschel was the brother of Caroline Herschel and the father of John Frederick William Herschel. He was a professional composer and astronomer. In addition to being famous for discovering the planet Uranus, he turned his attention to the stars and was inspired to make an extensive study of the cosmos.

The musical theme that I used in these original compositions comes from the Third Movement of William Herschel's Oboe Concerto No. 2 in C.
