Blake DJs around town and also created DEEJAY.COM, a web site for deejays.
You'll find David regularly spinning discs around town. The SF Bay Guardian has an article about David. You can get his mix tapes at Soundworks.
Jerry is one of San Francisco's finest deejays. His specialty is Trance with great sweetness and rhythm. My favorite mix tape is Keeper of the Dream #2. Jerry is resident at Nikita and Spundae. His tapes and CDs are available at CD & Record Rack.
Lewis has a very playful style. He stays away from deep house, mixing instead garage, some acid, classic rock and disco in a colorful montage. Makes you dance and lightens your spirits.
DJ Neil Lewis plays at Pleasuredome. You can also find him at CD Record Rack.
Legendary SF mixtress. Resident deejay at The Box and at Club Universe.
Started deejaying in Oakland. Now of Sound Factory fame. A profile of San Francisco's Pete Avila in XLR8R magazine.
When DJ Phil B. drops the needle on the vinyl I really can't keep off the dance floor. My friends say enviously, "What are you on - and why won't you share it?" All I can do is smile enigmatically at the DJ booth. It's DJ Phil B. lifting me with pure sound.
His Aftershock CD is a pleasing blend of house and trance.
You'll find Ruben regularly spinning discs around town. You can get his mix tape at BPM Music Factory.
Sam's a long-time DJ in San Francisco. Look for him spinning the discs at The Detour or chat with him at his store, Soundworks.
If you like to be surprised, listen to Stephanie. She treats her bag of vinyls like a box of tinkertoys. Put them together, so many different ways. But listen, none of these creations are in the book. Sometimes, late at the Detour, I've heard her go beyond BPM and key, actually segueing genres.
For me, Tommy creates space and motion. With Tommy at the deck, I can effortlessly get from one end of a packed house to the other just by plugging my feet and body into his music. It's metaphysical. Sometimes I'm climbing over rocks at the beach or climbing down a trail. Then my next step cues on the beat if I just think the same way.
