This restaurant and dance club has been completely and lavishly remodeled. It looks quite chic. Even the basement dance floor, formerly known as The Pit, is totally upscale, boasting a new sound system and lights. The restaurant offers neo-asian cuisine.

This dance bar is in the second story and boasts a balcony and and open-to-the-sky patio inside. It's always packed with a perky, mixed crowd. The dance floor is, alas, barely two arm reaches across.

There's no dancing here, but the music is all but! And the kick-butt digital sound system driven by SF's best DJs creates pent up excitement. Add a moody light system casting tracks along the trademark chain link fences, and what do you do with all that energy? Play pinball, cruise, groove to the DJ, cruise, play pool, cruise. Watch out! Who's that standing next to you, all of a sudden?
Saturday nights also feature go-go dancers

Renowned. Inimicable. Religious. Despised. There is a permanent San Francisco subculture that spokes out from this hub. There is a central bar as you enter from the corner of 6th and Harrison. Behind it, you step up 6 inches to a hardwood dance floor. The other side of the dance floor is lined with three sliding glass doors opening to an outdoor deck. There's a fountain, three waterfalls, trees, benches, and a tree-high gazebo, of sorts. Speaking of sorts, that's a good term for the people here. Sorts. Uninhibited sorts.
A new sound system was recently installed. But the main attraction is the deejays here. Dancing is the Religion. There are clubs here Thursday through Monday. The most famous is Sunday's T*dance.

This is the best dance space in San Francisco, many think. It is a huge space with fabulous lighting system and many different spaces. In the center is the main dance floor, two stories tall with a skylight and galleries all around. Standing on the galleries, looking down at the seething, rhythmic motion of the dancers gives a real 3D feel. Along with the high ceiling, you can virtually fly around the dance floor like a bird. There's an outdoor patio and an upstairs lounge with bar, both shielded from the speaker blare by doors. Down in the basement another dance floor, famous for acid house music, plenty of sofas.
This space was once the popular Colossus, then Product, and Spread. Now it hosts small raves throughout the week. The first Wednesday of the month check out ComeUnity.
