Devil's Postpile is a short walk from the road...
Labor day 1996 was a good time to take the gentle walk to Devil's Postpile,
and the waterfalls and wildlife nearby, in the High Sierra near Mammoth
Mountain, in
Eastern California.
The walk along the gleaming river is easy and pleasant.
And known for trout fishing. Many people start off down the stream and find
themselves involved before getting to the reason for this little National
Monument.
But this is no strenuous goal. The famous basalt columns are
less than a mile from the road...
