A little further on you can see the side of the postpile, where columns have
twisted around and are pointing out horizontally, along with some tenacious
bushes growing from the cliff side.
This picture is a little bit hard to grasp in terms of perspective. Those
column ends and bushes are jutting out of the surface of an irregular
wall (like the end of a wood pile) at just about 90 degrees, and the
camera is pointing upwards at this wall, at a point about 20 feet
above the photographer's head.
It's possible to climb up to the top of the pile at this point...
