FSC - is the Forest Stewardship Council and and is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests
IUFRO - is the International Union of Forest Research Organizations IUFRO and is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists, which promotes global cooperation in forest-related research and enhances the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests and trees
EFI - is the European Forest Institute and is an international organisation established by European States. By the summer of 2009, a total of 21 European States had ratified the Convention on EFI, namely Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and United Kingdom.
IUCN - is the International Union for Conservation of Nature and helps the world to find pragmatic solutions to our most pressing environment and development challenges. It supports scientific research, manages field projects all over the world and brings governments, non-government organizations, United Nations agencies, companies and local communities together to develop and implement policy, laws and best practice.
COST FP0603 - is a European forest research group about "Forest models for research and decision support in sustainable forest management". The main objective of the Action is to promote the developing of methodologies to improve forest models to support the sustainable management of forests.
Forestry Commission - of Great Britain is the government department responsible for the protection and expansion of Britain's forests and woodlands.

CEF - is the Forest Research Centre and is a research unit dedicated to forests and forestry which is based in the Technical University of Lisbon.
AFN- is the Portuguese national forestry authority.
Portuguese forestry - has information and photos about Portuguese forests and Portuguese forestry.
ICNB - is the Institute for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity and is part of the Portuguese Ministry for the Environment. ICNB is the governmental body responsible for nature conservation and biodiversity policies as well as the management of Protected Areas.
