I remembered Gunter's words about how brain interference technologies
and life interference
might have been used to influence behavior during World War II.
Technologies and psychodrama strategies
developed under the cover of wartime.
The hardships of a nation at war compounded by those who used war
as an excuse for the control of civilians,
by those who wanted to control writers whose work was challenging.

"The assassination and life interference technologies
developed by British Intelligence at Camp X.
The mind intrusive experiments of such men as Alfred Loomis,
the magician, the experimenter with brain waves.
The ways of harassment of civilians
developed by the CIA and military intelligence during the cold war."

Like me, Gunter had become absorbed in research for his new work
and could think of nothing else.
