streamed down his face as he talked
a black shadow fell on the documentation
only slightly off key
deciding which shirt to wear
their notorious welcome bark
data transfer protocols lined up
The words on the screen were barely legible
gopher error messages
in the men's locker room
ample, supple, pliant, plush
grazing - like bit mapped images
at the monitor
an old model but
an endless flow of written words

Written and coded by Judy Malloy, l0ve0ne (1994) was the first selection in the Eastgate Web Workshop, a pioneering space for hypertext writers who wished to work directly on the web. In 2021 -- in this version hosted on The WELL -- the early HTML markup for l0ve0ne was updated to HTML5/CSS. Although a few changes were made, the words and structure remain essentially the same.
