The terrors we confront practically every moment of our lives
are not imagined.

If at times we seemingly accept
this invasive assault on our bodies and souls,
it is because we know no other way to live.

If, thrust into an interface designed by madmen,
we do not outwardly display fear,
our courage was bred in years of forced endurance.

No words adequately describe the terrible slow understanding
of the extent of what has been done to us.
Alone, we struggle to comprehend
the hurtful unraveling of our lives.

We dream of openly consoling each other;
our government denies us this comfort.
Instead, utilizing the methods of totalitarian regimes --
which seek not only to curtail individual freedom
but also to keep their citizens from uniting in resistance --
our government fosters a climate of intimidation.

Come forth our leaders. We ask for your wisdom, experience, honor, and strength;
your trust in us.

We ask for sanctuary.
We define sanctuary as a return to freedom for our homelands.
