Given the evidence,
given, for instance, that I know I am under surveillance,
and yet the harassment has not been stopped,
it is very difficult to believe
that American intelligence agencies
are not actively participating
in attacking innocent citizens.

Looking out at the Pacific Ocean,
I thought about my Aunts and my Uncles
who served in the OSS during World War II,
and I hoped -- for the sake of all of us --
that there are still men and women in the intelligence services
who share their ideals.

For all of us, I ask for sanctuary.
