With technologies stolen from scientists
in the fields of medicine, psychiatry, genetics,
electronics, electromagnetic research, high energy physics,
laser applications, virtual realty, biotechnology,
neurobiology, and artificial intelligence,
they sought to control our lives
and called it education.
In search of perverted and barbaric methods of warfare,
they tortured living creatures
and called it research.

They attacked our bodies with inexplicable pains
so that our lives outside of the workplace were without pleasure.
They destroyed our completed work when we made an apparent mistake
so that to keep our jobs we had to spend long hours at work.
They systematically stole money from our bank accounts
so that we were dependent on their employment.
They broke our personal possessions
so that our homes were not a sanctuary but rather
we were meant to see them as secondary to our place of work.

They interfered with every aspect of our lives,
breaking up good marriages;
interfering with the way our bodies look to rob us of our self esteem;
purposefully providing criminally substandard medical treatment to Union workers
and to the men and women in our Armed Services.

By these methods, they made a mockery of the free workplace,
turning not only our work hours but also our personal lives
into a totalitarian sweatshop where we were forced to work nonstop to avert punishments.
They did it covertly so that, although the pattern was obvious,
someone who pointed it out would seem paranoid.
They wanted us to know that our lives were being stolen,
and that we were powerless to complain.

I woke up sweating although it was cold outside.
And still the nightmare did not stop.

They said: "We are increasingly productivity to make our country strong."

I said: "You are destroying the freedoms for which this country stands.
You are torturing the citizens of this country."

For all of us, I ask for sanctuary.
