Julene Snyder is a freelance writer and editor based in San Diego, California. Her areas of expertise include pop culture, music, parenting, technology, business and arts criticism.
She has written several columns for various outlets, most recently, "The Mommy Files" for Beehive.org. From early 2000 until mid-August of 2001, she wrote a weekly digital music column for the Industry Standard called "Beat Sheet." Other columns include the weekly "You Talkin' to Me?" (pop culture commentary) for both SF Weekly and The Gate (the online presence of the San Francisco Chronicle) and nose4noise (for Lycos a2z).
Writing credits include pieces for the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Jose Mercury News, the Village Voice, Salon, the Industry Standard, the San Diego Reader, Yahoo Internet Life, Variety and many others.
Her book credits include contributions to "Most Popular Web Sites: The Best From a2z (Lycos Press)," several chapters in "Fodor's San Francisco '98" and a short story in "A Girl's Guide to Taking Over the World: Writings From the Girl Zine Revolution."
Ms. Snyder received First Place from the Peninsula Press Club in 1998 for best Feature Story, Non-Dailies for her San Francisco Bay Guardian cover story "Animal Magnetism." She was a prize winner in fiction for both the 2000 and 2001 San Diego Writers' Cooperative Writing Contest.
