Here are the directions to:

                      the MONTHLY WELL "OFFICE" PARTY

No longer at the WELL's offices, the W.O.P. is the classic Well Offline
Party, held from 6:30 to midnight on the 3rd Friday of each month except
July. It takes place at Presidio Yacht Club, (PYC), on a former Army Base:
East Fort Baker, near the North footing of the Golden Gate Bridge, in Marin
County, California.

A great planning topic goes on on in the welcome, party and news conferences.
(Other events are held by WELLfolks in other places, g party for details.)

                              Getting There

->Highway 101, going north from S.F., take the "Alexander Ave" Exit, the
second exit after the GG Bridge, immediately after "Vista Point".

->Highway 101, going south through Marin County, take the second "Sausalito"
Exit, the one *after* the Waldo tunnel, just before the GG bridge. Make
a sharp right at the bottom of the exit ramp, pass under the freeway, and
bear slightly left onto Alexander Ave.

->Proceed down Alexander Ave. past the first possible left, (marked by a
brown GGNRA sign, around a few curves, until you see a "Speed Checked By
Radar" sign, followed by a brown sign reading:
"Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA)
East Fort Baker -- Bay Area Discovery Museum."
Make a sharp *right* turn onto Ft. Baker Rd. (The first brown sign pointed
left, the one you want indicates this first possible *right* turn!)

(error check point: if you've missed the Ft. Baker turn, you'll follow a
sharp curve to the left, posted "15 MPH." Turn around at your next
opportunity and go back until the road widens slightly, just before a
white wooden bus shelter. Turn right at the shelter to go left... the
road goes through a small tunnel under Alexander Ave. to Ft. Baker Rd.)

->On Ft. Baker Rd., you'll go generally downhill, and will see the Bay
on your left. As you get to the bottom of the hill, your road curves to
the left, passing a building with four columns on your right. Continue to
a stop sign, where the street signs indicate Murray Circle and Murray
Circle. (Don't be alarmed.)

->Bear left. A very short distance after that intersection, you'll see another
fork in the road with a "traffic island" formed by two large trees with
a broken curb around them. Take that left turn. You'll pass a Coast Guard
building, prominently lit and clearly marked. The yacht harbor, and
San Francisco, will be on your right.

(Error check point: if you find yourself on a narrow stretch of road with
a steep hillside on your _right_ and the yacht harbor on your _left_, you
missed the turn, go back to the fork with the large trees.)

->Ahead you'll see a cluster of buildings. Park on the side of the road
approaching the buildings. Walk to the _right_ (water) side of the
largest building, along the deck; you'll probably see people on the deck,
unless it's cold or rainy.

Public transit isn't easy, but it's not impossible. Try busses 10, 20 or 50.
Golden Gate Transit numbers: 415-332-6600 from San Francisco
                                415-453-2100 from Marin County
                                707-544-1323 from Sonoma County
(Let the driver know you want to go to Fort Baker Road, and from SF, start
paying attention after the Vista Point stop. Bring a flashlight if you are
arriving after dark. Wear comfy shoes to walk about 0.8 miles downhill.)

Bring food to share if you can, and by all means come as you are.
