Last weekend got the opportunity to fly up to Eagle Lake (Spaulding, northeast of Mt. Lassen) in the Mooney 231. They just raised the bar. I like this kind of airplane! I flew back. We set up cruise at 17,500 feet, getting out the cannulas...Kind of pretty out there, vis was >100 miles I would guess. Dial in a Vortac and check the DME. Groundspeed: 201 knots. (230+mph). Lordy!! (as Bax would say) We are flying back to San Carlos in the Bay Area. In the vicinity of Sacramento (Sacramento Exec): "Time to start the descent. Let's see,, 22 minutes to SUNOL and we have 13,500 feet to lose by then...start 700fpm DOWN now." Cool, even faster!
