A Brief History Of
Midnight Moonlight Madness

I first wrote this web site in mid 1996 under the title "A Walk On The Wild Side", which I never actually put on the web. In Oct. 1996 I finally got a computer and an ISP (AOL), so I actually put my site on the World Wide Web. When I checked for the use of the title "A Walk On The Wild Side" on the Web, though, I found that this title was used for hundreds of Web sites. So I put the site on the web under the title "Midnight Moonlight Madness" (MMM) instead, as that title was only used by two or three other sites. If I remember rightly, I first put that original version of MMM on AOL for a short time, then moved it to deltanet.com . The URL was http://users.deltanet.com/~robbie/ . That account was canceled in early 1997. The site continued to exist for several years, due to a oversight by Deltanet, but it finally ceased to exist sometime in 2001.

After a brief existence in late 1996, Midnight Moonlight Madness went off-line until October 1997, because I had no access to a computer! (I had been borrowing a computer from a friend, but I had to give it back.) When I obtained a computer of my own in October 1997, I signed-up with AOL and put Midnight Moonlight Madness back on-line with the URL http://users.aol.com/tustinite/ on Wednesday October 8, 1997.

In Nov. 1997 I performed major upgrades, including a black background with colored text, and a "museum" motif. It was also around this time that the basic philosophical roots underlying MMM took shape. I decided to dedicate my site to the children of the world, and to Love, and to Truth. These remain the primary values of this site, and always will.

Throughout 1998 and early 1999 I slowly improved the look and sound of the site, adding background images, colored borders, midi music, new essays and poems, etc.

In May of 1999, I started converting my site from HTML version 3.2 to HTML version 4. The main difference is that version 4 moves most of the "style" information, such as background images and colors, font faces, font sizes, font colors, borders, etc. from the HTML code to separate documents called "style sheets" which are written in a language called CSS or "Cacading Style Sheets language". By early June 1999, all five main pages of my site had been converted to HTML version 4. By early August 1999, many of the subsidiary pages were HTML version 4 compliant as well. But I never finished this conversion, nor did I attempt to comply with the "Strict" subversion of HTML 4, opting instead to use the "Transitional" subversion.

On Sunday October 3, 1999, I moved my site to http://www.well.com/~lonewolf/ . This was because AOL had been having a lot of technical problems on its FTP and web servers, and showed no greet speed in fixing these problems. Pacific Bell has proven to be a better web host. It does have its own problems from time to time, but not as much as AOL.

In August of 2000, I made all of the HTML code in this site HTML 4.01 complient.

Also in August 2000, I decided to convert MMM to frames, primarily so that visitors would have a navigation bar on the bottom of the window at all times, and so that I could take the top and bottom navigation bars out of all of my pages.

However, sometime around early 2001, I grew very tired of some of the problems related to usage of frames (links appearring as frames in my site instead of unframed; bookmarks going to frame page instead of to intended document; search-engine spiders not being able to find my pages; etc.), so I converted the site back to a non-frames approach.

In late 2002, I made all the HTML code in this site compliant with the World Wide Web Consortium's latest recommendation for HTML, XHTML 1.0 strict. I suppose only a computer geek would care about such things, but I like keeping things technologically up to date.

Sometime around late 2006 or early 2007, I registered the domain "www.tustinfreezone.org", for eventual use with MMM.

On Saturday April 21, 2007, I moved MMM to The Well. It's new Well address is "http://www.well.com/user/lonewolf/", but I also now have "http://www.tustinfreezone.org" linked to that address, and I intend to use only the tustinfreezone address for search-engine submissions, etc., from now on.

I intend to keep on updating and improving this site every few weeks until after 2050, if I can. Keep an eye on my site during the first half of the twenty-first century and check-out all the changes and improvements!
