Corbitt The Cat

`

He sits on a windowsill curled in a ball,
basking in the afternoon sunshine.
His fur is shiny black,
except for his feet (which are white),
and a white patch at the base of his whiskers.
The screen door slams and
he jumps up and runs down the hall in a panic and
hides under the refrigerator.
What a crazy cat!
Corbitt the Cat.

He laps milk daintily from a bowl in the pantry.
He stops and licks his paws and washes himself.
A small child approaches and pets him,
but rubs his fur the wrong way, and
he jumps up and runs down the hall in a panic and
hides under the refrigerator.
What a crazy cat!
Corbitt the Cat.

He crawls into my lap in the evening
and purrs and kneads me with his needle claws.
I pet him and he snuggles with me
and curls up on my lap
and purrs
and falls asleep.
What a beautiful cat!
What a Loving and Loveable cat!
Corbitt the Cat.

Then I sneeze
and that startles him
and he claws my face and
he jumps up and runs down the hall in a panic and
hides under the refrigerator.
What a crazy cat!
But I Love him anyway.
He's all mine,
my little cat,
and I Love him forever!
Corbitt the Cat!
