The Junior Mints Slot Conspiracy

As everyone knows, Junior Mints are the most delicious movie-theater snack. As Kramer says: Who's going to turn down a Junior Mint? It's chocolate. It's peppermint. It's delicious! It's very refreshing!

There is really only one problem with them, and that's the design of the box. As you can see, one side has a slot and a corresponding tab which lets you close the box. The other side does not!

Why not have a slot on the other side? There's already a tab there.
Why not remove the bottom tab to allow the customer to open the correct side of the box in the dark just by feeling for the presence or absence of the tab?

This timeless mystery has confounded generations of movie-goers. It probably always will.
