Here are the ones I have seen, with recommendations: First, the great ones (directed by him): Hilarious, absolutely unbelievable stunts, fighting that ranges from awesome to absolutely incredible, a decent to actually very engaging plot: Project A Part 1 * * Project A Part II ** Armour of God II ** Super Cop * Dragon Lord !!! City Hunter ! - I WANT a copy of this film. Dragons Forever ! Twin Dragons * * - the most human: Jackie plays two characters, raised-apart twins, one a gangster, the other an upper class concert pianist, who get involved and mixed up between two different women. Hilarious, especially if you know from his other movies how inept his screen-character is with women. This is the one I'd show people first if they've never seen any Jackie Chan before, but all the ones above are good too. These are nice, not quite as good: Painted Faces Armour of God I- (monks in the castle/just good, but with cute outtakes) Wheels on Meals (1984) - real cute, he's a sandwich-maker in Europe, but much funnier if you've seen his usual stuff before seeing this. Island on Fire Drunken Master Drunken Master II First Mission Police Story (simplistic but funny in middle - tricks girl into coming to his house) Once A Cop (directed by Michelle Khan) - has an outrageously funny slapstick short cameo of Jackie as a false-bossomed matron! Again, even funnier if you're already familiar with him. Ones to stay away from: Early films he played in before he got to be the director, lots of B-level kung fu stuff, he's always good but you gotta watch a lot of boring story just to get little bits of him doing a little bit of his thing. This is mostly all that was available on video, until recently. | Fearless Hyena II (eh) Less bad: | The Big Brawl * | Spiritual Kung Fu (cute, silly) Then he made one film which is completely unfunny and untypical: Crime Story Also be very aware of the titles, the movie houses have trouble with this. Once I went to see "Super Cop: Police Story 3" and it turned out to be Police Story 2. Enjoyed seeing it a second time anyway :^) Always, always watch to the very very end! Jackie is famous for the outtakes of flubs and accidents and how-he-did-it footage that often gets tacked onto the end after the titles. Incredible stuff. The best/only place I've found to get some of this stuff is Movie Image on Shattuck just below University. They try their best to get what they can, and they label it as: dubbed, good print, bad print, etc so you know what you're renting. Man, typing this is making me want to see his good stuff again. See ya later!
