Cessole is one of dozens of small towns nestled in a valley of vineyards
and hazelnut orchards in the Piemonte region of northwestern Italy. To the
west lie the French alps, to the north, the Swiss alps.
The house we rented near Cessole had terrazzo tile floors and gloriously
high ceilings.
The bedroom where we slept. This palatial rental slept five, with two
large bedrooms with queen-size beds, and a small nook off the kitchen
with a single bed.
Our favorite dining spot in Cessole was the Santamonica, which had fabulous
pizza and homemade ravioli with a rich, creamy walnut sauce that was
heaven on a plate. Here the chef adds coals to the grill, where steaks
and sausages were cooked.
