I was endlessly fascinated with pastry shops and terrazzo. This photo
captures both. Note the decorative detail in the floor of this cafe. This
elegant work could be found on shop floors everywhere.
Modern Savona is a busy shipping port. Its ancient fortress rests on the
rocky shores, not atop the highest hill. The fortress in Savona houses a
university. David and I toured an art gallery encased in these medieval
walls, but were more entranced with the architecture outside.
