We welcome Miss Kaili McLaren.
Is it Husky
flag blue you'll be wearin'?
We think it suits you,
So as
Geno recruits you,
We hope that you'll soon be declarin'!
by Kibitzer
McLaren enjoys going home "When McLaren entered the game at the 10:50 mark of the first half, many in the crowd of 1,143 erupted for the loudest applause of the night."McLaren Back Home And On Rebound "Whatever Auriemma said, McLaren seems to have responded, showing gradual improvement the last three games. She scored a season-high nine points Monday against Holy Cross, a performance she will try to build on tonight in front of family and friends as the Huskies play Georgetown in their Big East opener. McLaren was 3 the last time UConn lost its conference opener."

2005-06 Gwinnett County Team of the Year
East's speed beats height in 105-76 win Maya Moore showed why she's the national Player of the Year...
Moore still the star in Louisville ...As all of Gwinnett knows by now, Moore can do pretty much anything....
Moore is Wootten female player of year The award is given to the McDonald's All-American who "exemplifies outstanding character, exhibits leadership and embodies the values of being a student-athlete in both schoolwork and community service activities," according to organizers.
Moore wins Naismith Award Maya Moore and the Collins High girls basketball team finished off a perfect season (31-0) last Friday by winning a third straight Georgia Class 5A state championship.
But for Moore, a 6-foot forward from Lawrenceville, Ga., who signed with UConn last November, it just keeps getting better.
Moore Paces Unbeaten Season
Maya Moore, the No. 1 senior in the country, according to HoopGurlz.com, had 29 points and eight rebounds,
Eagles soar back for victory "In the nail-biting final minutes, Moore made the rebounds, made the shots and gave her team the win."
No. 1 Eagles erase 22-point halftime deficit to down Mill Creek "The Eagles — who routinely beat region foes by 30 or 40 points — had just staged a miraculous comeback against the upstart Hawks, culminating with two Maya Moore free throws with 2.9 seconds left, to escape with a breathtaking, heart-pounding 60-58 win."
Maya Tops Herself Again "During a dizzying, sometimes delirious 11-day stretch, against six of the nation's best teams, Maya Moore has been playing a game of oneupsmanship - with herself. Every game was better, more dramatic, more unbelievable than the last."
Moore scores 48 in national tourney "When Moore pulled up and drained a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer, Collins Hill (15-0) had a nine-point lead. The shot capped a ridiculous 16 minutes of basketball, even for the 6-foot-1 superstar. She scored on putbacks, stepback jumpers, crossover moves. She forced two five-second violations when the Vikings couldn't throw the ball in. She grabbed eight offensive rebounds."
No. 1 Collins Hill survives overtime scare "Maya Moore scored 27 points, including a game-winning steal and layup with 11 seconds left in the extra session, to help the Eagles dispatch of the Winter Haven (Fla.) Blue Devils, ranked No. 15 in the nation by USA Today, in the first round of the T-Mobile Invitational in Seattle, Wash."
Collins Hill hopes to be No. 1 team in U.S. after next week's Nike tournament

The Bucks need not travel too far.
Drive to Gampel in the old family
car.
Come here in the Honda
And look on in won-dah
Watch Heather become
a big star.

We're delighted Heather Buck will stop here
For four years. She'll

And respond to those sounds
By snaring rebounds

"There's a talent from Delaware named Delle
Donne
With a jump shot as pure as Thai Celadon.
And if she comes here
We'll send up a cheer
'Mama Mia! Oh,
Geno! That's-a well-a done!"

No wonder PAT called off The Game!
When she heard that the Delle Donne
name
Would soon be signed
To our LOI line
And the rivalry could not
be the same.

DelleDonne's The Next Star Of Women's Basketball
This 6-foot-4 do-everything forward/center/guard is a genetic machine; a teenager in a grown woman's body.
"A monster," said one awe-inspired onlooker at a recent DelleDonne showing.
Carl Adamec article - Delle Donne comes away impressed "I really like Coach (Geno) Auriemma a lot and the assistant coaches, and the team was great."
Bob Sienicki interview Nike Camp: Elena Delle Donne Interview "For whoever lands Elena Delle Donne will be getting a phenomenal young woman. Not only a spectacular athlete and basketball player but a bright and mature young woman who will leave a legacy wherever she goes in life."
Some of you may remember a heart-warming story about Elena's sister, Lizzie. The article originally appeared in The (Wilmington, Del.) News Journal, but is no longer online. The paper has granted us permisson to reprint the article: 'I was determined to win it for her' If you've read it before, you'll probably want to read it again. If you've never read it, you should. From Philly.com:
Elena Delle Donne knows life issues, more so than ballyhooed games, will teach her to persevere, too. Such as a recent Thanksgiving when her mother and father had to rush Lizzi to a neurologist following a seizure, leaving Elena and her older brother, Gene, 19, at home with a turkey baking in the oven.
It's All About Elena! Then came high school
basketball as Delle Donne competed on the varsity level as an eighth
grader for Ursuline during the 2003-04 season. She was a leader
throughout the season, averaged 20.2 points per game, and led Ursuline
to the Delaware State Championship, scoring 17 points and grabbing 9
rebounds in the Championship Game victory over Seaford High School. By
the summer of 2004, there was already quite a buzz about her at the 14u
Nationals in Monroe, LA and Delle Donne did not disappoint. She scored
an amazing 45 points in the semifinal game and then 25 in the
Championship game as Fencor was victorious once again.
By the time her freshman season at Ursuline began, she had virtually
achieved celebrity status and college coaches and fans were flocking to
her games in mass numbers. The season, itself, was a great one for her
statistically and for her team in terms of wins and losses. Delle Donne
averaged 27.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game and on many occasions
gave scoring performances in the mid-30s to low-40s.
Blue-and-White kid picked upa sign idea from ThisJustin - I didn't capture a picture of the sign, but the text in the image above captures the main message of the sign.

Gold medal for UConn recruits Doty and fellow University of Connecticut recruit Tiffany Hayes were among seven players in double figures as USA White finished off a perfect 5-0 run to the Festival gold medal with a 103-88 win over USA Blue on Sunday.
Summer hoopsters excel in AAU ball "Doty’s team, from the Fort Washington-based Fencor AAU organization, continued a remarkable run, winning its third national championship in four years. In their “down” year, 2003, the squad merely finished second in the country after falling to the Fairfax (VA) Stars, the team they defeated in this year’s final."
Doty leads way with 25 as Patriots defeat Lions "A combination of pressure, man-to-man defense and the hot shooting hand of junior Caroline Doty carried Germantown Academy to a 55-40 victory over Cardinal O'Hara last night in an early-season clash of area girls' basketball powers"
