• 06.10.2004 Svetlana Abrosimova, the member of the Russian Women's Basketball National Team and key basketball player of the Women's NBA club "Minnesota Lynx", has been signed for VBM-SSAU (Samara), the Russian Champion. Today she was even listed to participate in the Russian Championship and in the 2005 FIBA Women's World League, which is to be started on 12th October in Samara and St. Petersburg.

  When Kerry Poliquin used to tell people she was going to UConn, some thought she meant Yukon -- as in the frigid Canadian territory -- instead of the University of Connecticut.

After both the UConn men's and women's basketball teams recently captured national championships, no one makes that mistake anymore.

It was during her time spent at UConn that Poliquin -- known back then as hoop star Kerry Bascom of Epping High School -- dished out one of her more valuable assists by volunteering to help out with Special Olympics.
