Guests, passengers, team prospects and curious onlookers are invited to try out dragon boat paddling at almost any scheduled practice session. No experience is necessary, and BRCC supplies lifejackets and paddles. Kids and dogs are usually welcome, but it's good to ask first.
You can save time by downloading the BRCC Amateur Athletic Waiver and Release of Liability form and bringing a signed copy with you.
Children under 12 must be accompanied in the boat by a parent. Youth under 18 require parental signature on the waiver form before they can go out in any of the BRCC boats.
Swimmming ability is not requird. Dragon boats seldom swamp or capsize, and non-swimmers must wear lifejackets at all times. (Good swimmers who certify their swimming ability may take off their lifejackets under certain conditions, but must always keep them close at hand.)
There is no charge for up to three practice sessions in any three-month period. After three introductory sessions, new paddlers are asked to join BRCC to contine. Membership fees are as follows:
Membership is for one year from the date of the fourth practice session or date of membership payment.
