From the CESP minutes of June 7, 2000

(in case there's any doubt about CESP's intentions with respect to public outreach.)

"Peter Weshler who helped CESP with the request to Coastal Conservancy for funds said that our position is viable but we should stay involved in participatory planning. We should be involved in coalition building including possible opposition. Don Neuwirth will present the possible EBRPD bias. Dwight stated that a proper outreach role for CESP will be drafted and alliances created so that our views can previal. We will encourage other groups to attend public meetings held by the District."

CESP certainly has every right to work towards its own interests. But when the stated strategy is "so that our views can prevail" then I submit that this is not the right agency to be recieving public funds for community "outreach."
